Abstract: The Sister Mary Joseph's Nodule (SMJN) is a rare tumor in the umbilical scar and it may indicate an early sign of intra-abdominal malignant neoplasia that usually comes from metastases from the gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems. A painful ulcerated mass with serous or hemorrhagic secretion is rare, so it should be differentiated from conditions like umbilical hernia and granuloma. The case report shows that understanding this pathology and its differential diagnoses is important for better patients management. Diagnosing SMJN early is necessary because it may improve therapeutic approaches and therefore leads to better patient prognosis.
