Lessons from a case-paradigm of damage control laparotomy in peritonitis

Abstract: Generalized peritonitis from complicated acute gangrenous colon volvulus, with added clinical picture of impending perforation, dysoxic respiratory failure from toxemia and acute anuria from abdominal compartment syndrome, represents a paradigm case for damage control surgery.
