Abstract: Breast cancer, a leading cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality among women globally, is influenced by a combination of environmental and genetic factors. Among these, genetic predispositions, such as mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, significantly increase the risk of developing breast cancer. This paper explores the complexities surrounding surgical decisions for breast cancer patients with genetic predispositions, examining the role of genetic testing, surgical options, decision-making processes, psychosocial implications, and future directions in care. By integrating current research, clinical practices, and patient-centered considerations, this paper aims to illuminate the pathways through which patients, healthcare providers, and support networks navigate these critical decisions.
